What if Zamasu never took over Goku’s body, and he went after Broly? What if Broly Black entered the Dragon Ball Super universe? In this article, we will discuss the traits and powers of Broly Black!!
Broly Black – The Overpowered Tyrant!!

In the Dragon Ball media universe, there is a fictitious character named Broly. The original Broly, a significant antagonist created by anime screenwriter Takao Koyama, appeared in a trio of 1990s Dragon Ball Z anime films, including Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan (1993), Broly – Second Coming (1994), and Bio-Broly (1994); and the 2017 interactive 4-D cinematic Dragon Ball Z: The Real 4-D at Super Tenkaichi Budokai, then an updated and revised version of the character created by the series’ creator Akira Toriyama that made his screen debut in the 2018 movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly, where he first played a key antagonist role.
One of the baddies in Dragon Ball Advanced: Zero Mortals Plan – Another Road is Broly Black, also known as Black. He emerges from an unaltered timeline. He appears to be the most recent of the legendary Super Saiyans, who make an appearance once every thousand years. He is the offspring of Paragus and a powerful mutant Saiyan.
He was left on the planet Vampa by King Vegeta due to his alleged superior power level, where he was nurtured by his dad until being liberated 41 years later by Cheelai and Lemo of the Frieza Force. In Dragon Ball Super: Broly, he plays the roles of both the primary protagonist and the misguided central adversary.
Did Akira Toriyama Created Broly Black?
Akira Toriyama (who developed the full powered golden hair variation) and Takao Koyama were responsible for the overall design of Broly’s character as well as his renowned Legendary Super Saiyan state.
Watching Future Trunks’ metamorphosis into the Super Saiyan Third Grade in the episode “Trunks Ascends” in particular gave the latter the idea to make a strong and terrifying Saiyan enemy.
Broly, unlike other Saiyans, does not wear the typical Saiyan Battle Armor because it is a uniform for Frieza’s soldiers, and Broly is not a member of those forces, according to Toriyama’s notes for the character’s design.
In addition, he included a remark saying he doesn’t care if he has a tail in relation to a certain concept art image showing him with one, leaving it uncertain as to whether or not he actually had one in the movie. He added that for his upcoming film appearance, he somewhat changed the style of his hair.
Broly Black’s Appearance

Light-skinned Saiyan Broly has dark eyes, short bangs that frame his forehead, and black hair that reaches his mid-back. When he was younger, he wore a brown boot, a rope belt, a grey pair of slacks with a single strap, and bangles. In his mature form, Broly is a hulking, well-built guy with a slender body.
Even before donning the crown, his visage had a melancholy air about it. He wears white slacks, no shirt, and a red sash that is fastened around his waist with a yellow belt that has a blue diamond in the center.
He also has a pair of identical yellow boots with a blue gem on top of the front. No matter what size-increasing metamorphosis he employed, his attire always remained unchanged and expanded along with him, suggesting that it was constructed of a comparable substance to the Battle Armor.
As Broly’s mental instability grew, Paragus put bracelets, a necklace with a flat plate over the chest, and a crown on his forehead. Each of these items is made of gold with a blue gem to help control Broly and his power. Additionally, Broly had gold rings covering his biceps.
Broly’s crown, neckband, and armbands were destroyed after escaping Paragus’ influence. After losing against Goku, Broly developed scorch marks on his chest.
Broly Black’s Personality
Due to his tendency for fury outbursts and more forceful assaults, Broly Black’s personality is identical to that of Goku Black from the manga. He does not rush to utilize Future Zamasu as a shield because he views him as little more than a pawn rather than a friend.
When initially observed, Broly appears to be a pretty placid and innocent-looking Saiyan (out of character of a majority of the Saiyan race). He was also shown to have some loyalty to Paragus before receiving the crown, albeit not to the same extent as his revised counterpart, as he voluntarily saved Paragus from Planet Vegeta’s destruction as an infant when escaping the dying planet, and his response upon waking up before realizing Paragus was going to use the crown on him in the latter’s flashback indicated he did not feel resentment towards his father.
As shown in Paragus’ flashback, Broly possesses an erratic dual nature. He temporarily awakens and inquires calmly about what Paragus is doing, but when he realizes that Paragus is about to put the mind-control crown on his head, he erupts into a screaming tantrum.
When Broly enters his more aggressive form, he exhibits his passion for violence and brutality, exactly like the ordinary Saiyan, but on a much more devastating level. As he grew, his frenzies occurred more frequently and lasted longer, eventually leading him to chisel out his father’s left eye. It seems that this violent and villainous side of him was a result of both his extraordinary power, which he never properly learned to control, and the traumatic events of his birth.
Due in large part to his insanity, Broly was also known to become hysterical when inflicting harm or going into a frenzy. This was particularly noticeable in Paragus’s flashback, in which Broly is shown laughing uncontrollably after destroying an urban landscape as a child, despite being physically muzzled by Paragus.
Broly also appears to have significant trouble managing his wrath, which increases the risk of him accidentally killing himself. Paragus deployed a device to calm Broly’s fury in an attempt to stabilize his irrational conduct.
Broly’s Saiyan nature takes control after he is liberated from Paragus’ control mechanism. As evidenced by his demolition of Planet Shamo, his passion for battle and appetite for death and destruction are unbreakable.
Additionally, according to Paragus, his craving for violence, devastation, and death was significantly greater than that of the average Saiyan. When Piccolo refers to him as a freak, Broly responds that he is actually a devil, indicating that he appears to be aware of his villainous nature.
The fact that Broly has demonstrated a high degree of intelligence while on his rampage suggests that he may still have some sanity despite having been driven insane by his birth-given power and the multiple circumstances surrounding his birth.
He sees through Paragus’ lies and his plan to have him die in the planet’s colliding with Comet Camori, and he briefly engages in surprise attacks against Gohan, Goku, and Future Trunks inside the destroyed city and successfully catches them off guard. In the Victory Mission manga, he similarly to King Piccolo proceeded to consume two Dragon Balls next to Beat and Froze before compelling them to engage in combat with him while knowing full well that they can’t actually hurt him.
In a similar vein, he also showed no regard for minor injuries, which became especially clear when Goku kicked him in the face powerful enough to cause a small amount of bleeding from the mouth. He then grinned slightly and licked the injury clean, much to Goku’s dismay.
During the fight, when Goku demanded a handicap, Broly went on to gruesomely ask him if “handicap” is just another term for a coffin. He also has a very ominous sense of humor. He also possessed a more sarcastic sense of humour, as was demonstrated before he destroyed Planet Shamo when he said that the Shamoian slaves chose to display bravery despite the fact that they were hiding together in total fear at the time.
In the Japanese version, he even said to the Z Fighters that they were highly deserving of their Saiyan blood, showing that he has some respect for fighters who try to stop him even when the odds are stacked against them . The comment he made to Vegeta shortly after swiftly defeating them, in which he branded him a “genuine piece of trash,” further suggests that he has a dislike for warriors who are all talk and no action.
The Japanese version implies that despite his general lack of discipline, he managed to hold back from destroying New Planet Vegeta just long enough for Goku and the other Z Fighters to have a chance to battle with all they had but this was mostly because his Saiyan instincts claimed him to have a fight. He was one of few people Vegeta was previously terrified of, along with Frieza and Beerus, majorly because of his true state as the Legendary Super Saiyan.

As a result, he was initially entirely unwilling to fight and even fervently demanded that the other Z-Fighters stop attacking him because it was pointless.
The thing that best describes Broly is his ferocious hate of Goku. When they were both infants, Broly was upset by Goku’s constant crying, which led to the animosity that would develop in his early years and reawaken when he saw Goku again.
It is hinted that the reason for his hate of Goku is that he unconsciously connected Goku’s unceasing crying with the horrifying experiences he had to go through afterwards, such barely escaping the execution and avoiding the destruction of Planet Vegeta, and hence resented Goku for these things. It is also hinted that he was annoyed by Goku’s tears in part because it made him cry a little despite his great strength, indicating he thought Goku might have a stronger warrior instinct than himself.
Notably, Broly was evidenced to have a disturbed face expression, twitching, and profuse sweating at one point, strongly suggesting that he was experiencing a PTSD episode as Paragus watched him struggle to keep grip of himself in his room and wonder what is causing his influence over his son to wane.
He frequently yells Goku’s Saiyan name, “Kakarot,” in an exclamatory manner while under mind control and afterwards when his insanity has taken hold. Even though he usually refers to Goku by his Saiyan name, he twice called him by his Earth name while they were fighting on New Planet Vegeta. Despite his hatred for Goku, the Japanese edition of Movie 8 suggests that he at least appreciates Goku’s resolve to attempt and stop him despite the slim chances of doing so by referring to him and the other Z-Fighters as “worthy of their Saiyan blood.”
Although not as much as Goku, it is hinted that Broly holds a similar low view of Vegeta because, in the Japanese version, when Vegeta musters up the courage to try and battle Broly, the latter sternly declares that he has no intention of giving Vegeta an easy victory.
In the anime, Broly now yells “Vegeta!” instead of his typical “Kakarot!” when confronting the Vegitos, suggesting that his hate of Vegeta has at least been publicly acknowledged by the time of the Big Bang Mission.
Relatedly, after Frieza because he was his previous commander and Beerus because of the way he treated his father, Broly was one of the few to make Vegeta feel so terrified that he was afraid to approach him. This was largely owing to the fact that he was the Legendary Super Saiyan.
It is revealed in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 that he has committed to memory the fragrances of both Vegeta and Kakarot. He still despises Goku and is driven to find him in Xenoverse 2. Due to his father’s influence—Paragus possessed an army of henchmen—he considers the Future Warrior like a toy and a slave and threatens to kill them and ruin the city. He even planned to move out of the city to go take down a planet elsewhere to let off steam, which is one of the handful times Broly has displayed any semblance of containment given that he could have easily destroyed Conton City. However, like all antagonist instructors, he has toned down his destructive tendencies.
Broly is briefly shown in Shin Budokai as being a little saddened by the destruction of his home planet, but he eventually laughs it off when he realizes that it was that event that propelled him to climb up, poking fun at the irony that he primarily owed Frieza his life. Shin Budokai otherwise maintains most of his typical personality traits for Broly. The discussion also hints that Broly’s insanity was ultimately caused, at least in part, by the annihilation of Planet Vegeta and his close encounter with this incident.
In World Mission, an abnormality makes a version of Broly much more insane than usual to the point where he mistakenly believes Beat, a descendent of Goku, to be his enemy rather than Xeno Goku, Kakarot. He continues to strike Beat while ignoring Xeno Goku.
Broly Black’s Powers Explained
Even before Broly being revealed to be the Legendary Super Saiyan, Paragus asserts that Broly’s power level is lower than his own, which is announced earlier by Future Trunks, who refers to the latter as being a “toothpick” in comparison.
This is in large part due to Paragus limiting Broly’s power to his base form via his crown. However, it appears that Paragus may have been stronger than Broly in his base form, at least when he first wore the crown, as the latter is able to hold him down while Broly struggles to push Paragus away during his yelling fit.
When Broly was wreaking havoc in the South Galaxy, his Super Saiyan form’s ki was potent enough to be just about detectable from King Kai’s world.
It is also strongly hinted that it was potent enough to demolish the South Galaxy by itself, sparing only a few planets and stars, even in his constrained Super Saiyan A-type state. Broly’s ki was strong enough to be felt from Kami’s Lookout on Earth from New Planet Vegeta while he was in his Legendary Super Saiyan state.
Despite being confined by Paragus’ headband, he is able to make basic Goku struggle a tiny bit while in his severely constrained Super Saiyan A-type form. He can withstand many hits from Super Saiyan Second Grade Vegeta when he reaches the peak of his Super Saiyan A-type power without quivering.
He is stronger than Future Trunks and Vegeta in respective Super Saiyan Second Grade forms, Goku and Gohan in their Legendary Super Saiyan forms, and the Super Namekian Piccolo; he effortlessly defeats all five of them.
Also when Piccolo and Goku simultaneously attack Broly with kicks and punches, Broly sustains no harm; in fact, he easily avoided their combined assault and defeated them. The most striking instance was when he purposefully dodged Super Saiyan Goku’s Super Kamehameha attack and laughed it off.
He even went so far as to coldly ask Goku what the attack was meant to be. Being unharmed by Super Saiyan Goku’s attacks demonstrated that Broly was at least two times as powerful as Goku.
Just after killing Paragus, Broly also suggests that his fortitude in this form was strong enough for him to resist being ensnared in the approaching collision of New Planet Vegeta with Comet Camori.
His physical power in this form also allowed him to easily destroy Paragus’ heavily armored strike ball and then launch it off the planet. However, Goku defeats Broly in his Legendary Super Saiyan form by channeling the ki of the depleted base forms of Gohan, Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Piccolo. Broly likewise exhibits some amazement and terror at the sudden strength boost when Goku receives a considerable amount of ki, but these feelings are fleeting.
He even asserts firmly that no matter how much power the other Z-Fighters give to Goku, it will not be enough to kill him. Vegeta claims that he is the most potent Saiyan in the archives of time. Goku advised Gohan to run when Broly attacked him despite being aware of his Super Saiyan 2 form, suggesting—though this has not been confirmed—that his Legendary Super Saiyan form may have been more powerful than Gohan’s Super Saiyan 2 form at the time.
Broly was also demonstrated to have extraordinary stamina, surviving serious injuries that would have typically killed other people. These included getting stabbed in the heart when he was a baby and taking a powerful Goku’s punch to the abdomen before abruptly exploding at the finish of their fight. He inevitably got considerably stronger during these occasions thanks to his Saiyan Power.
Gohan claims that Super Saiyan C-type Broly is just as difficult to defeat as he was in his first appearance in the movie, hinting that his Super Saiyan C-type state in the film was of equivalent potency to his Legendary Super Saiyan state from his first appearance. He can easily defeat Videl in this form, as well as Goten and Trunks in their Super Saiyan forms, before engaging base Gohan in combat.
Regarding this, it was also inferred that Broly was able to stop venting when he assumed his Legendary Super Saiyan form because he did not do so during his battle with Gohan toward the end of the movie. He has little trouble taking down Super Saiyan 2 Gohan in his Legendary Super Saiyan form. The complete force of the Family Kamehameha performed by Super Saiyan 2 Goku, Super Saiyan 2 Gohan, and Super Saiyan Goten was sufficient to hurl Broly into the sun’s core, however Trunks’ barrier assisted in cutting off Broly’s link to his Gigantic Meteor.
Furthermore, Goten’s brief halt in his flight maneuvers when presenting himself to the Natade Village residents due to experiencing something in the mountains (firmly implied to be Broly’s Ki signature) while Broly was unconscious suggested that his body continued to emit a noticeably high Ki signature.
Broly Black’s Transformations

Broly’s Body
Using Super Shenron, Zamasu was able to take Broly’s body and use the majority of his skills.
Super Saiyan
Despite having certain differences from Super Saiyan 2 due to his electrical streaks, Broly Black has the ability to transform into a standard Super Saiyan. He develops markings beneath his eyes that are reminiscent of Majin Vegeta’s and Super Saiyan Goku Black’s.
Legendary Super Saiyan
Broly Black appears to be more powerful than usual because he can endure punches from Vegeta in base form while still having access to Legendary Super Saiyan. His hair is soft grass green like usual, and he still has the markings under his eyes.
Saiyan Beyond God
Similar to Goku Black, Broly Black is only able to access a modified version of Broly’s God form.
Super Saiyan Rosé
He was able to evolve into Super Saiyan Rosé after using the Saiyan Power as a result of Future Zamasu’s recovery, and he can use this form for a while until becoming Legendary Super Saiyan Rosé when he becomes enraged.
Legendary Super Saiyan Rosé
He is sometimes referred to as Broly Rosé; this is Broly’s Legendary Super Saiyan God form. There are important distinctions that let it stand out as a distinct form, such as green electrical streaks and the presence of two auras when intense. Instead of rosé pink, his hair is champagne pink, and his pink eyes are uncolored. Because of his powerful nature, Vegeta had to perform a God Fusion in order to vanquish him.
Broly Black’s Skills & Techniques
- Flight: The potential to fly with ki.
- Ki Blast: The most fundamental type of energy wave.
- Ki Sense: The capacity to perceive ki and power levels is known as ki sense. It is implied that he had this power right before going mad and becoming a Legendary Super Saiyan since, in his wrath, he abruptly stopped and announced Kakarot’s existence on Paragus’s ship before Vegeta or Paragus even realized Goku was there.
- Saiyan Power: It is the capacity of a Saiyan to become stronger via combat and to become stronger following the healing of a nearly fatal wound. When compared to other Saiyans, Broly’s Saiyan Power appears to be very potent, as evidenced by his ability to quickly transition into different transformations.
- Regeneration/Healing Factor: Research indicates that Broly has a higher healing factor than typical Saiyans. When he was a baby, he recovered rapidly from having his stomach punctured, and after “bursting” from energy at the conclusion of his debut, he was able to quickly repair his own wounds.
- Ultimate Smash: After lifting the opponent into the air with a kick, Broly takes hold of their head and smashes them to the ground. Then, dealing a significant amount of damage, he stomps on the opponent’s back while also slamming their head into the ground.
- Powered Shell: An energy barrier is created around the person using the method known as “Powered Shell” to fend against attacks. This power could withstand lava and even planetary destruction, as shown by the fact that he survived Gohan’s trap against him and the destruction of Planet Vegeta, as well as Broly’s remark that Paragus was naive to believe he would have perished from Comet Camori bumping with New Planet Vegeta pretty soon after killing him.
Its inability to deflect the Family Kamehameha strike suggests that it may have had restrictions, such as the ability to withstand very potent blows.
- Lariat: When the attacker turns around, Broly grabs them by the neck and uses the Lariat move to drive them against a wall with such force that it leaves a huge hole. He then keeps strangling the foe while forcing them into the crater, releasing them when they lose consciousness, and allowing them to crash to the earth.
- Gigantic Lariat: With the help of the technique known as the “Gigantic Lariat,” Broly may capture several foes at once and put them all at his mercy. used in the Dragon Ball Z movie Zenkai Battle.
- Omega Blaster: “Struggle all you want, in the end you still die,” says Broly as he unleashes a massive energy bomb with tremendous strength with his Omega Blaster. He is able to manage the attack’s size as well as its strength by firing ki blasts into it to propel it forward, increasing its destructive potential and making it powerful enough to wipe out the entire world. This also highlights the technique’s drawbacks, too. The Omega Blaster will shrivel and lose strength without a constant flow of ki blasts.
- Gigantic Eraser: A scaled-down version of the Omega Blaster.
- Gigantic Buster: As Broly rushes at the opponents and straight punches them away into the air, he yells, “Get out!” He then leaps into the air, descends on the ground, headbutts the opponent who is falling, and follows that by roundhouse kicking them to the floor. When the opponent is reeling, Broly charges at them, kicks them into the air, and then uses a Gigantic Eraser to blast them into the ground and deal a tonne of damage.
- Bone Crusher: The opponent’s arms are encircled by the user’s and occasionally pinned to the user’s torso. The opponent is tightly grasped by the user’s hands and held against the user’s chest.
- Blaster Meteor: The user of the Blaster Meteor first creates an energy armor around his body. He then spreads his hands apart to either side and unleashes a barrage of strong energy blasts that zero in on the intended target and deal enormous amounts of damage.
- Eraser Blow: Broly executes the Eraser Blow as he flies past the adversary while aiming an Eraser Cannon towards the stomach of the target. The opponent is then blasted away at point blank range by the attacker as he throws his hand with the Eraser Cannon forward. To add drama, the attack is followed by a darkened screen.
- Eraser Cannon: To start, Broly charges a bright green energy orb in his palm by drawing it in from all over his body. The assault is then launched at the adversary as he sweeps his hand forward, dealing significant damage. He occasionally will also fire it from his chest.
- Double Eraser Cannon: First, Broly charges the two Eraser Cannons he holds in each of his hands, one in each hand. Then, while firing the energy spheres individually at the adversary, he throws his hands forward, dealing a lot of damage. A flashback also suggests that this onslaught had the strength to fully destroy a planet.
- Planet Geyser: When the energy blast strikes the ground, it detonates, generating a gigantic energy burst that looks like a geyser and launches the opponent into the air while dealing tremendous damage and perhaps causing significant collateral damage to the surrounding region.
- Gigantic Slam: Broly creates a green energy shield encircling his body. He then leaps into the air and lands on the ground, punching the opponent away and dealing a lot of damage.
- Gigantic Spike: Broly flies down to earth while holding the opponent’s head and propels them head-first into the earth or a wall, causing a massive earthquake and a ton of damage.
- Seismic Power: Powerful enough to trigger an earthquake and a rainstorm with his shouts and laughter after becoming a Legendary Super Saiyan, Broly has the ability to cause earthquakes.
- Telekinesis: It is a method that enables users to control things and other people with their minds.
- Torture Hold: Broly puts his opponent in a torture hold by holding them by the head and legs with each hand before placing them on top of his head. Then, until they give up or die, he keeps bending the enemy’s body over his head.
- Gigantic Hammer: First, Broly uses a powerful clothesline to knock the opponent to the ground. Then, he lifts the opponent into the air with a vertical kick after grabbing them by the shoulders. He then respawns in front of the adversary and flies down to bash them across the ground while grabbing them by the head. Finally, Broly grabs the opponent by the head and delivers a devastating uppercut to the stomach, sending them flying into the air.
What If Zamasu Switched Body With Broly?
- Even at his initial level, Broly is incredibly powerful. Compared to Goku, he is on a different level.
- Assuming that Zeno Sensei wouldn’t kill him, Zamasu would undoubtedly carry out his Zero Mortals Plan if he switched bodies with Broly.
- Through battles with Goku and Vegeta, he will continue to develop with an invincible body under control.
- He would undoubtedly lose when facing their SSJB forms, but the next time around he’ll also be using God mode, just like he accomplished with SSJ Rose mode.
- A Legendary SSJ is also significantly more potent than an average SSJ, and when it assumes a God form, it becomes virtually unbeatable. Vegeta and Goku cannot defeat him in their combined SSJB mode, and Ultra Instinct may not be able to either.
How powerful would an ideal Broly Black be?
Most definitely a Monster. Do they share the same DNA as our beloved protagonist Goku, or are they fused? In order to prevent confusion, we’ll just assume it’s the same. Considering Black’s prior experience using Goku’s body, he would utilize Broly’s body more effectively than he would. Being Black in Broly’s body would make him essentially unstoppable.
The movie unquestionably demonstrated Broly’s growth as being above and beyond anything we’ve seen in the series, ranging from being weaker than Base Vegeta to competing with SSJ Gogeta as an SSJ+Ikari. Broil’s training wasn’t all that exceptional or great. He spent more than fifty years on Planet Vampa with his father, training alongside both The Beast and him. Broly trained with his father and reached that level of power, which stunned Goku and Vegeta so much that they realized it wasn’t Frieza aboard the ship. Paragus was the strongest person on that planet outside Broly, and his PL was 4′200, which is not particularly spectacular.
The potential of Broly is insane. Imagine Goku Black being able to use both his might and the Saiyan Zenkai Thing. You have a guy that has the potential to be Beerus. Do you recall when Gogeta turned blue in the Broly film? Because he had already power lifted him when Gogeta was SSJ, he did it now because he didn’t want him to become so powerful that he outperformed his power as SSB.
Broly’s power did grow, but his attacks, such as Ki Blasts, had more force because he was firing focused ones rather than mouth blasts instead. Black’s power would be near endless or flat out limitless, unmatched by any other, if he were utilizing Broly’s body, which has ridiculous potential, along with his talent at manipulating Saiyan psychology.
He has the ability to engage in combat, passively gain strength over time, and, if necessary, abuse the Zenkai to completely dominate his opponent. Do you recall in the Black arc of the anime how Vegeta defeated Black after regaining his strength? If Zamasu hadn’t almost been sealed by Trunks, Black would have simply eclipsed his might and would have continued to do so.
When coupled with Broly’s Passive Growth, he would be a monstrous beast that is pretty formidable in terms of ability, power growth, and battle intellect. He would also possess a hazard that would enable him to power cliff almost anyone.
