Many fans believe that the battle scene in this episode is the best-animated fight scene in the entire series. This results from the animation when each of the five pirates launches their attack individually.

This had a significant impact on the episode’s ratings, which helped make it the highest-rated episode of the entire series at the time.

2. Episode 483: Looking for the Answer

This episode—possibly the most significant in the series so far—is focused on Portgas D. Ace’s passing while Luffy and the Whitebeard Pirates attempt to rescue Ace from the execution platform.

After the Scabbards and the other allies advance on Onigashima, Luffy and the company decide not to raise a glass in honor of Jimbei’s return. Onigashima’s Beasts Pirates and Orochi are celebrating the impossibility of a raid in the meanwhile. It was a superbly done episode that is still relevant today.

Sanji brutally beats Luffy while attempting to communicate with him, but Luffy is unable to do so and is ultimately knocked unconscious. After Luffy stated that they required him, Sanji suddenly broke down in tears.

Despite the Straw Hats’ internal fighting, it is one of the saddest episodes in the entire run. This episode received good grades from viewers because of how well-written the characters in this series are and how even their closest friends may fight like this.

6. Episode 405: Disappearing Crew – The Final Day of the Straw Hat Crew

One of the strongest teams in the series is the Straw Hat Pirates. They have overcome one obstacle after another under the vivacious leadership of Luffy, their captain.

However, things haven’t always gone smoothly for the group.

The Sabaody Archipelago was a living nightmare for Luffy and his friends. Bartholomew Kuma sent Luffy’s entire crew flying to arbitrary places while Luffy was helpless to stop it. This is a significant turning point for the show and paves the way for some fantastic character growth for the entire cast.

The episode opens with a flashback of Ace and Yamato talking about numerous topics, including Ace’s dream about Luffy. It was revealed that Oden, who Yamato believes to be Luffy, made a prediction in his journal about a particular pirate rising to the top 20 years later. When Luffy reaches the rooftop, he gives Kaidou a powerful blow.

It received great marks for animation, especially in the scene where one of One Piece’s most formidable villains, Kaido, is punched by Luffy after witnessing the Scabbards being defeated.
